Of the 2,858 people tested for Covid-19, reports of 11,968 were negative while 490 were positive

The Maharashtra government completed survey of close to 9.30 lakh people in Covid-19 containment areas in 18 districts till April 2.

The survey was completed by 2,455 teams all over the state.

Maximum survey teams (413) are active in Pune followed by Mumbai (292) and Nagpur (210). The members of these teams are visiting door to door.

"We have completed survey of 9,25,828 people till April 2," state health minister Rajesh Tope said.

The localities where three or more than Covid-19 positive patients are found have been earmarked as containment areas.

People staying in a radius of three km from a containment area are surveyed as per the Union government's directions.

The people are tested for dry cough, cold and fever. They are kept under observation for 14 days.

In a letter to Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, on Friday, Maharashtra finance minister Ajit Pawar demanded to excluded fly mask, N95 mask, personal protection equipment )PPE) and ventilators from the Goods and Service Tax (GST).

"A quick decision in this regard will help in making these essential items easily available in the time of crisis," Ajit Pawar stated in the letter.

Ajit Pawar also has announced to compensate the heir of a policeman if he dies while discharging his duty in the battle with Covid-19. "We have decided to give the family members Rs 50 lakh in this case," Ajit Pawar said.

The state government has empowered the revenue commissioner and collector to take a decision on roping the Home Guard personnel in maintaining law and order.

Maharashtra witnessed new 67 patients on Friday.

Out of them, 53 are from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Area. With this the number of positive patients have reached to 490.

Maharashtra also recorded six deaths on Friday taking the toll to 26.

Maharashtra so far has tested 12,858 people for Covid-19. Out of them, test reports of 11,968 were negative while 490 were positive.

So far, 50 patients have been discharged after they were cured, 38,398 people are under home quarantined whereas 3,072 have been quarantined at various hospitals, hotels and other institutes.
