India is adopting a graded, preemptive and proactive approach to deal with the deadly coronavirus.

Although total recovery rate in India has gone up to 47.76 percent while the number of cases under active medical supervision is 89,995, the country has adopted a graded, preemptive and proactive approach to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said in a statement on Sunday.

Earlier, addressing the nation through AIR’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged people to be more careful about the COVID pandemic.

He said though railways has started its services by running Shramik and Special trains and operationalization of domestic flight services by airlines and running of industry to normalcy too but there should not be any laxity in taking precautionary measures. People will have to maintain 'Do Gaj Ki Doori', wear face masks and stay at home to the extent possible.

He also said, “Road ahead is a long one; we are fighting a pandemic about which little was previously known. India’s fight against Covid-19 is people-driven and the country's ‘Seva Shakti’ is visible in this battle. Fight against Covid-19 is also being powered by the innovative spirit of our citizens,” Prime Minister Modi said in his ‘Man Ki Baat’ programme.

On Saturday, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued detailed guidelines for lockdown 5.0 calling it ‘Unlock 1.0’. It has allowed the opening of religious places of worship for public, hotels, restaurants and other hospitality services, shopping malls from June 8. There will be, however, no relaxation in Containment zones till June 30.
