Continuing with India-Sri Lanka cooperation in the transport sector, 10 state-of-art railway passenger coaches arrived at the Colombo Port on Tuesday.

The coaches are part of the supply of 160 coaches to SL Railways by Rail India Technical and Economic Service (RITES) which is being financed through an Indian Line of Credit.

“#India-#lka cooperation in the transport sector continues to expand with the arrival of 10 state-of-the-art railway passenger coaches at the #ColomboPort. This is a part of the supply of 160 coaches to SL Railways by #RITES which is being financed through an Indian Line of Credit,” said a tweet of the Indian High Commission in Colombo.

India and Sri Lanka had signed a memorandum of understanding for "co-operation on economic projects" in 2019 during Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s visit to India.

India had offered a new USD 400 million line of credit to give boost to infrastructure and development in Sri Lanka.
