The US Special Representative arrived in India after participating in Pakistan-hosted Troika Plus meeting on Afghanistan

Newly appointed US Special Representative for Afghanistan Thomas West on Tuesday met Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla in New Delhi and both exchanged their views on the recent development in the landlocked country.

Tweeting about it, MEA Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi wrote: “Foreign Secretary @harshvshringla met US Special Representative for Afghanistan Thomas West @US4AfghanPeace and exchanged views on recent developments and issues of common interest in Afghanistan.”

According to sources, during the meeting, topics of discussion between the two sides included the recently held Regional Security Dialogue of NSAs on Afghanistan in New Delhi, movement of people in and out of Afghanistan, coordinating global efforts on humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan, regional security issues, and other bilateral and international issues of mutual interest.

Earlier, he called on NSA Ajit Doval and discussed issues related to current developments in Afghanistan, sources said.

On November 11, Islamabad hosted a meeting of Troika Plus, comprising Pakistan, China, Russia and the US to discuss the current situation in Afghanistan.

A day before, India had conducted Delhi Regional Dialogue on Afghanistan, which was participated by NSAs and Secretaries of the National Security Councils of India, Russia, Iran and five Central Asian countries.
