EAM Jaishankar speaks with UK Foreign Secretary, discusses trade, investment and security
India-UK ties have been marked by regular high-level exchanges and growing cooperation
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday spoke with UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss and discussed shared interest in trade, investment and security.
Taking to Twitter on Monday, the Indian External Affairs Minister said that he had a warm conversation with his UK counterpart in which shared interests in trade, investment and security were discussed. Jaishankar invited her to visit India for bilateral talks.
“A warm conversation with UK Foreign Secretary @trussliz. Discussed our shared interest in trade, investment and security. Look forward to welcoming her in India,” the tweet said.
During the India-UK Virtual Summit between the two Prime Ministers held on May 4, 2021, the bilateral relationship between the two nations was elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
The ties have been marked by regular high-level exchanges and growing cooperation in diverse areas.
Truss had visited India in October last year and her visit had given an opportunity to review the Roadmap 2030 launched during the Virtual Summit, the Ministry of External Affairs had said announcing her visit.
It had also further deepened the partnership across various sectors like trade, science & technology, innovation, defence, climate, education and health sectors.
