Pakistan continues to sponsor cross-border terrorism against India and restrict normal trade & connectivity, the report pointed out
Pakistan has not shown seriousness in delivering justice to the families of the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks, the latest annual report of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) says.
The MEA Annual Report 2022, which was made public on Monday, stated that India desires normal neighbourly relations with Pakistan and that issues should be resolved bilaterally and peacefully, in an atmosphere free of terror and violence.
"The onus is on Pakistan to create such a conducive environment," it noted.
However, Pakistan continues to sponsor cross-border terrorism against India and restrict normal trade, connectivity and people-to-people exchanges, the report pointed out.
According to the MEA's Annual Report, despite India’s persistent urging to Pakistan to uphold its January 2004 commitment not to permit its soil or territory under its control to be used for terrorism against India, there was no let up in cross-border terrorism, infiltration, or illegal arms smuggling into India across the Line of Control and International Boundary.
"Pakistan is yet to show sincerity in delivering justice to the families of the 26/12 Mumbai attacks," the MEA report pointed out.
On November 26, 2008, Mumbai was rocked by multiple terrorist attacks that left 166 people dead, including 20 members of the security forces and 26 foreign nationals. These attacks resulted in the injuries of almost 300 individuals.
According to the report, India has consistently stressed the need for Pakistan to take credible, irreversible action to end cross-border terrorism.
Pakistan continues to engage in hostile and fabricated propaganda to vilify India, and to divert attention from its domestic political and economic failures, the MEA said
India has completely and unequivocally rejected all actions and statements by Pakistan in matters that are completely internal to India. There is a greater understanding among countries that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and that the matters related to it are internal to India, the MEA Annual Report stated.
The report added that India is firmly and steadfastly committed to take all necessary steps to protect its national security in the battle against terrorism.
India consistently raises the issue of Pakistan's continued support for cross-border terrorism and terrorist infiltration in bilateral, regional, and multilateral fora. "In such outreach, credible inputs regarding the Pakistani origins of the captured terrorists are also shared," the report noted.
